SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard "Rick" Ryckeghem of Moline, who passed away on March 10, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem was born in Moline to Vernon W. and Catherine "Kay" (Creen) Ryckeghem on September 13, 1947; he served in the U.S. Navy and married Connie Allen; he later married Kathy L. (Maranda) Johnson in Moline on April 26, 1980; and

WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem retired as a police detective on September 8, 2000 after 32 years of service with the Moline Police Department; he later worked for MetroLINK Risk Management for over ten years; and

WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem was an American Softball Association coach for many teams in the Quad Cities from 1973 to 2018; he was the past president of the Illinois State Crime Stoppers Association and was instrumental in starting Scholastic Crime Stoppers in high schools throughout Illinois; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends; he was a friend and mentor to many; and

WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem is survived by his wife, Kathy; his sons, Scott (Kelly) and Todd (Deb) Ryckeghem; his daughter, Maranda (J.C.) Millman; his grandchildren, Tyler, Nick, Jakob, Ryan, Zach, Owen, Drew, Brady, Liam, Josie, Charlie, Grace, and Claire; his great-grandchildren, Willow, Jayce, and Asher; his stepgrandchildren, Alli, Kimi, and Gerad; his great-stepgrandchildren, Davis, Maggie, Julian, and Jarrin; his sisters, Tami (Tom) Cox and Janis (Terry Mooney) Rasso; his mother-in-law, Jackie Maranda; and his stepmother-in-law, Carm Shouse; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard "Rick" Ryckeghem of Moline and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rick Ryckeghem as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
