SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Katherine A. Berry of Peoria, who passed
4away on December 24, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Katherine Berry was born in Champaign to Everett
6and Lois Shanks Wells on October 18, 1940; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Katherine Berry worked as a waitress at Jumer's in
8Peoria for 25 years, retiring in 1992; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Katherine Berry loved her family and
10grandchildren very much; she enjoyed reading, crossword
11puzzles, Fighting Illini basketball and the St. Louis
12Cardinals; she was a dear friend to many and a huge supporter
13of the Democratic Party; she was a member of the First
14Christian Church of Creve Coeur; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Katherine Berry was preceded in death by her
16parents; her husbands, Gerald Berry and William Wood Jr.; three
17sisters; and four brothers; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Katherine Berry is survived by her children,
19Steven L. Brown, Lori (Mark) Bitner, Lois (Tom) Whitby, Mary
20(Tim) Durdel, and Mark (Kim) Wood; her grandchildren, Molly and

1Megan Bitner, Tiffany and Bethany Whitby, Alex and Morgan
2Barden, and Jordan and Melissa Wood; five great-grandchildren;
3and her beloved dog, Pippa; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Katherine A. Berry and extend our sincere condolences to her
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Katherine Berry as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
