SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Katherine A. Berry of Peoria, who passed away on December 24, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Berry was born in Champaign to Everett and Lois Shanks Wells on October 18, 1940; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Berry worked as a waitress at Jumer's in Peoria for 25 years, retiring in 1992; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Berry loved her family and grandchildren very much; she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, Fighting Illini basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals; she was a dear friend to many and a huge supporter of the Democratic Party; she was a member of the First Christian Church of Creve Coeur; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Berry was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Gerald Berry and William Wood Jr.; three sisters; and four brothers; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Berry is survived by her children, Steven L. Brown, Lori (Mark) Bitner, Lois (Tom) Whitby, Mary (Tim) Durdel, and Mark (Kim) Wood; her grandchildren, Molly and Megan Bitner, Tiffany and Bethany Whitby, Alex and Morgan Barden, and Jordan and Melissa Wood; five great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Pippa; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Katherine A. Berry and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Katherine Berry as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
