SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James A. "Jim" Blakely of Moline, who passed away on March 5, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Jim Blakely was born in Lebanon, Missouri to George and Vica Conn Blakely on August 31, 1924; he served in the United States Army during World War II; he married Mary Ellen Erickson in Rock Island on May 12, 1976; and

WHEREAS, Jim Blakely worked as a truck driver for Johnson Sheet Metal and retired in 1985 after 23 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Jim Blakely enjoyed fishing; and

WHEREAS, Jim Blakely was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary; and

WHEREAS, Jim Blakely is survived by his great-niece, Gretta Knight; his great-nephew, Frank Jacobs; his cousins, Jim and Joanne King and Becky and Lowell Morgan; and his dear friend, Blanche Jacobs; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James. A. "Jim" Blakely and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Blakely as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
