SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Deputy Jacob Howard Keltner of Crystal
4Lake, who passed away on March 7, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner was born to Howard and Helen
6Keltner; he graduated from Western Illinois University with a
7degree in Spanish and a minor in law enforcement and justice
8administration; he married Rebecca Lee Cranston on August 10,
92007; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner knew he wanted to be a police
11officer from a young age; he started in a civilian position
12with the DuPage County Sheriff's Department and soon joined the
13McHenry County Sheriff's Department, where he worked patrol; he
14then moved into investigations as a detective; he worked for
15seven years in narcotics while assigned to the United States
16Drug Enforcement Administration-Rockford Office Group #39; for
17the last five years he was assigned to the United States
18Marshal Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner enjoyed working out, biking, and
20swimming with his boys during the summer; he was an avid fan of
21the Chicago Cubs; he was a prankster and had a contagious laugh
22and could talk to anyone he met; and

1    WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner was preceded in death by his
2mother-in-law, Pam Cranston; his sister, Sara; his
3grandparents, Robert and Patricia Keltner; his grandfather,
4Eugene J. "Sy" Sekowski; and his aunt, Patricia Hernbroth; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner is survived by his wife, Becki; his
6sons, Caleb and Carson; his parents; his brothers, Zachary
7(Latasha) and Lucas (Christine) Keltner; his grandmother,
8Theresa Sekowski; his father-in-law, Don Cranston; his
9sisters-in-law, Amy (Ryan Hoven) Cranston and Holly (Tirso)
10Castro Rodriquez; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles,
11and cousins; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Deputy Jacob Howard Keltner and extend our sincere condolences
15to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Deputy Keltner as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
