SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Todd Garner of Mt. Zion, who passed away on October 30, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Todd Garner was born to Harold "Bill" and Mary Garner on June 23, 1963; and

WHEREAS, Todd Garner was vice president of Peerless Inc. in Decatur for 21 years; he was successful and respected by his Peerless family; and

WHEREAS, Todd Garner served as president of the Mt. Zion school board; he was always involved with his children's education, and because he knew how the education system affects the success of the entire community, it was important to him to be involved in guiding academics and extra-curricular activities for youth; and

WHEREAS, Todd Garner attended the Holy Spirit and Holy Family Catholic Churches; he enjoyed going to family and friend gatherings, golfing at South Side Country Club, operating the clock for Mt. Zion football games, and traveling to Las Vegas; above all, he enjoyed supporting his sons in all their interests; and

WHEREAS, Todd Garner was known for being loyal, dependable, funny, witty, smart, and generous with his time and talents; he loved his family, friends, and community; he will be remembered as a cherished son, loving husband, and devoted dad; and

WHEREAS, Todd Garner was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bill Garner; his infant brother, Richard Garner; his sister, Marilyn Garner; his brother-in-law, Richard Elliott; and his friend, Doug Collins; and

WHEREAS, Todd Garner is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rhonda; his sons, Jacob (special friend, Page) and Nick (special friend, Nicole); his brothers, Larry (wife, Julie) Garner and Steve Garner; his sisters-in-law, MaryBeth Garner and Janet Elliott; his brother-in-law, Shawn (Becky) Taylor; his nephews, Patrick, Brad, Scott, and Casey; and his nieces, Kim, Nicole, Erica, Tawnie, Ashley, and Kassidy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Todd Garner and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Todd Garner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
