SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John F. Collins, who passed away on December 2, 2019; and

WHEREAS, John Collins was born in Dayton, Ohio to John H. and Clara Langhorst Collins on January 9, 1924; he earned his bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois; he earned his master's degree in Engineering Management from the Illinois Institute of Technology; he served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945 and was held as a P.O.W. in Germany; he married Marilynn Carey in Illinois in November 1950, and she preceded him in death on January 25, 2016; and

WHEREAS, John Collins was president of J. F. Collins Associates, a human resource consulting firm; and

WHEREAS, John Collins was a member of the Flossmoor Community Church; he was a proud Illini alumni; he enjoyed the outdoors, taking daily walks, playing tennis, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends; and

WHEREAS, John Collins was preceded in death by his wife; and

WHEREAS, John Collins is survived by his daughters, Allison (Jim) McCarthy and Cynthia (Brad) Baldwin, and his grandchildren, Mark (Olivia) Baldwin, Madeline McCarthy, and Meredith McCarthy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John F. Collins and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Collins as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
