SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mario Almanza of Moline, who passed away on October 23, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Mario Almanza was born in Moline to John and Virginia (Navarro) Almanza on October 12, 1957; he served in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1981; he married Tracy Petrie in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 4, 1989; and

WHEREAS, Mario Almanza worked as a laboratory technician for the city of Moline for 36 years; he took great pride in his work; he also served as the Moline Water Department's mascot Splash; and

WHEREAS, Mario Almanza enjoyed ice fishing, feeding and watching birds, music, cars, electronics, and shopping; his favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears; he loved life and his dog Chewy; and

WHEREAS, Mario Almanza was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ricky Almanza; and

WHEREAS, Mario Almanza is survived by his wife, Tracy; his children, April Childs and Ryan Almanza; his siblings, Rosemary (Don) Lopez, Mary Carlin-Medina, Al (Linda), Juanita "Mona" (Mark) Reyes, Paul "Tony" (Brenda), Rita Almanza, Luis Almanza, and Mark Almanza; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mario Almanza and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mario Almanza as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
