SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Howard W. Carney of Gillespie, who passed
4away on October 12, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Howard Carney was born to LeRoy Carney and Hazel
6(Linton) Carney Wagner on February 12, 1932; he graduated from
7Gillespie High School and married Marvella June "Marvey" Meyer
8in Litchfield on April 16, 1950; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Howard Carney worked as a mine manager for the
10Monterey Coal Company; he was civic minded and served the City
11of Gillespie as an alderman for eight years and as mayor for 20
12years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Howard Carney enjoyed fishing and being with his
14family; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Howard Carney was preceded in death by his wife,
16Marvey; his parents; his son, Richard Carney; and his brothers,
17Earl and LeRoy Carney; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Howard Carney is survived by his daughters, Donna
19(Chuck) Westhoff and Vickie Brown (Tom Sorbie); his son, Ron
20Carney (Ellen Brown); his grandchildren, Chuckie Westhoff,

1Michael Westhoff, Ryan (Robin) Brown, Andy (Alisha) Brown, and
2Alex Brown (Cindy Baldwin); seven great-grandchildren; and one
3great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Howard W. Carney and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Howard Carney as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
