SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George Lewis of Waukegan, who passed away on December 21, 2019; and

WHEREAS, George Lewis was born to Tom and Mattie (Helm) Lewis; he was their only son; he grew up in Danville, Kentucky; he attended Danville High School, where he excelled in track and football; he attended West Kentucky Industrial College and studied masonry; he was drafted into the U.S. Army and fought in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, George Lewis was a loyal member of the Brick/Stone Masonry Union Local #20 and retired after 25 years of service; he worked for the U.S. Defense at Great Lakes in Public Works as a stone mason and retired after 10 years of service; he served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 20 years and retired as Master Sergeant; and

WHEREAS, George Lewis was known for his discipline and patriotism; and

WHEREAS, George Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Gloria; his sons, Damon, Ryan (April), and Kenny; his grandson, Jordan Mason; his special cousins, Jim and Joyce Epperson, his sisters-in-law, Gloria Massey and Ruth Glaspie; his nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of George Lewis and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Lewis as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
