SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George Lewis of Waukegan, who passed away
4on December 21, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Lewis was born to Tom and Mattie (Helm)
6Lewis; he was their only son; he grew up in Danville, Kentucky;
7he attended Danville High School, where he excelled in track
8and football; he attended West Kentucky Industrial College and
9studied masonry; he was drafted into the U.S. Army and fought
10in Vietnam; and
 
11    WHEREAS, George Lewis was a loyal member of the Brick/Stone
12Masonry Union Local #20 and retired after 25 years of service;
13he worked for the U.S. Defense at Great Lakes in Public Works
14as a stone mason and retired after 10 years of service; he
15served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 20 years and retired as
16Master Sergeant; and
 
17    WHEREAS, George Lewis was known for his discipline and
18patriotism; and
 
19    WHEREAS, George Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 42
20years, Gloria; his sons, Damon, Ryan (April), and Kenny; his
21grandson, Jordan Mason; his special cousins, Jim and Joyce

1Epperson, his sisters-in-law, Gloria Massey and Ruth Glaspie;
2his nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dear friends;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6George Lewis and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
7friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of George Lewis as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
