SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ethel Gene Behrens of Bunker Hill, who passed away on April 22, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Ethel Behrens was born in Eldorado to Vern J. Gidcumb and Ethel R. (Seitz) Gidcumb on June 15, 1923; she married Charles "Chuck" Behrens; she earned her master's degree in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; and

WHEREAS, Ethel Behrens was a teacher and then served as the principal at Wolf Ridge School in Bunker Hill; and

WHEREAS, Ethel Behrens was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse; her grandchild, Greta Ann Behrens; four sisters; and one brother; and

WHEREAS, Ethel Behrens is survived by her children, Steve (Cathy) Behrens and Ann (Leroy) Brakhane; her grandchildren, Dr. Bradley Brakhane, Kristin (Ken) Cruz, and Josh (Beth) Behrens; her great-grandchildren, Molly Brakhane, Libby Brakhane, Mark Brakhane, Emily Cruz, Abby Cruz, Ethan Bruhn, Gavin Heubner, and Grant Heubner; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ethel Gene Behrens and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ethel Behrens as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
