SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David D. Duncan Sr. of Peoria, who passed
4away on May 2, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Duncan Sr. was born in Malvina, Mississippi
6on September 11, 1923; he was raised in Rosedale, Mississippi
7by Robert Duncan and Lillie Mae Brown Austin Duncan; he married
8Lillie Duncan in December 1940; together, they had seven
9children, and she preceded him in death on July 11, 1976; he
10was drafted into the U.S. Army on October 24, 1944 and served
11in Japan during WWII; he was honorably discharged on January
1224, 1946; he married Lueseal Duncan on April 10, 1980; and
 
13    WHEREAS, David Duncan Sr. was committed to his faith; he
14was a dedicated member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist
15Church, where he served on the usher board; and
 
16    WHEREAS, David Duncan Sr. enjoyed playing checkers and
17played in many local tournaments in the Peoria area; he also
18enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, David Duncan Sr. was preceded in death by his
20parents; his first wife, Lillie; his son, Harold Duncan; one
21brother; three sisters; and seven grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, David Duncan Sr. is survived by his wife of 40
2years, Lueseal Duncan; his sons, David (Betty) D. Duncan Jr.,
3Mose Duncan, George Duncan, Christopher (Sue) Duncan, and Grant
4(Esterline) Duncan; his stepson, Alphonso (Patricia) Smith;
5his daughters, Darlene (Willie) White and Shonnel Duncan; his
6sisters-in-laws, Ruth Jones, Veardie Mae Hill, Classie Gayton,
7and Louiser Pointer; his brother in-law, L.V. Hill; and a host
8of family and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11David D. Duncan Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of David Duncan Sr. as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
