SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

725 ILCS 5/110-4.5 new

Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. Provides that notwithstanding any provision of the Code, the denial of bail is required if the person is a felon who is charged with a firearm offense.

AN ACT concerning criminal law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is amended by adding Section 110-4.5 as follows:

(725 ILCS 5/110-4.5 new)

Sec. 110-4.5. Denial of bail; firearm offenses. Notwithstanding any provision of this Code to the contrary, the denial of bail is required if the person is a felon who is charged with a firearm offense.
