SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

225 ILCS 407/5-5

Amends the Auction License Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning legislative intent.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Auction License Act is amended by changing Section 5-5 as follows:

(Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2020)

Sec. 5-5. Legislative intent. The The General Assembly finds that Illinois does not have the ability, without legislation, to enter into reciprocal agreements with other states to allow residents of Illinois to practice auctioneering in other states. This body further finds that, without legislation, Illinois does not have the ability to evaluate the competency of persons engaged in the auction business or to regulate this business for the protection of the public. Therefore, it is the purpose of this Act to license and regulate auctioneers.
