SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

225 ILCS 605/3.9 new

Amends the Animal Welfare Act. Provides that an establishment where dogs or dogs and cats are maintained for boarding, training, or a similar purpose for a fee or compensation that is not staffed at all times must be equipped with a fire sprinkler or other fire suppression system. Effective June 1, 2020.

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Animal Welfare Act is amended by adding Section 3.9 as follows:

(225 ILCS 605/3.9 new)

Sec. 3.9. Kennels; fire suppression system. An establishment where dogs or dogs and cats are maintained for boarding, training, or a similar purpose for a fee or compensation that is not staffed at all times must be equipped with a fire sprinkler or other fire suppression system.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect June 1, 2020.
