HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Amirah Marie Jones lives in Johnston City, where she attends Crab Orchard School and will be in the 4th grade this fall; and

WHEREAS, Amirah's family, her mother Jaleigha Marie Jones, her father Corey Lee Black, her brother Kolton Lee Black, and her grandparents Randy and Leasa Jones and Tandi and Greg Fernandez, love her very much; and

WHEREAS, The community of Johnston City has rallied together in support of Amirah as she has bravely battled illness; and

WHEREAS, The community of Johnston City and Amirah's family worked together to organize a day celebrating the beautiful and positive impact that she has had on her family and on her community; and

WHEREAS, On Sunday, July 12, 2020, Johnston City hosted a celebratory parade in Amirah's honor; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we join together with the people of Williamson County and Johnston City to honor Amirah Marie Jones for her bravery and courage and for the love and community spirit she has inspired; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Amirah, to Amirah's family, and to Johnston City officials.
