HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Clinton County Baseball League is an amateur baseball league established in 1945 by a group of men which included St. Louis Cardinal and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst, and also Whitey Koralski, William Zinschlag, Harry Wieter, Earl Taylor, Vince Kalmer, Butch Imming, and Gus Heidemann; and

WHEREAS, The men formed the league in order to offer Sunday entertainment to the citizens of Clinton County in the form of amateur baseball; the Clinton County Baseball League presented to talented and ambitious amateur baseball upstarts the opportunity to compete in front of a passionate audience; and

WHEREAS, In the league's inaugural season, it elected Bill Zinschlag as president, Harry Wieter as vice president, and Earl Taylor as secretary-treasurer; six Clinton County communities, including, Albers, Aviston, Bartelso, Breese, Damiansville, and Germantown, fielded teams for the opening Clinton County Baseball League season in 1945; and

WHEREAS, Germantown is the only community of the original six to have continuously fielded a team in the league; and

WHEREAS, Each game is played in accordance with American League Baseball rules and regulations; players have emerged from Sunday afternoon baseball in the Clinton County Baseball League to all ranks of professional baseball competition; and

WHEREAS, As one of the oldest amateur baseball leagues in Illinois, the Clinton County Baseball League will be celebrating its 75th year anniversary this year; this November, the Clinton County Baseball League will be commemorating both its 75th anniversary as well as the Clinton County Baseball League Hall of Fame Class of 2019; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Clinton County Baseball League for its 75 years of providing indispensable entertainment to the communities within Clinton County and the Clinton County Baseball League Hall of Fame Members on the honor of being inducted into such an historic organization; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to each member of the Clinton County Baseball League leadership and to the Germantown baseball team for its 75 years of continuous membership in the Clinton County Baseball League.
