SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

New Act
20 ILCS 1305/10-34.5 new

Creates the Human Trafficking Prevention Training Act. Provides that the Department of Human Services shall create a human trafficking prevention training program aimed at the prevention of human trafficking in hotels and motels. Provides that the Department shall use resources published by the United States Department of Homeland Security and the American Hotel and Lodging Association to developing the training program. Provides that an employee of a hotel or motel located in this State shall annually participate in the human trafficking prevention training program. Makes corresponding changes in the Department of Human Services Act.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning human rights.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Human Trafficking Prevention Training Act.

Section 5. Human trafficking prevention training. The Department of Human Services shall create a human trafficking prevention training program aimed at the prevention of human trafficking in hotels and motels. The Department shall use resources published by the United States Department of Homeland Security and the American Hotel and Lodging Association to developing the training program.

Section 10. Program participation. An employee of a hotel or motel located in this State shall annually participate in the human trafficking prevention training program.

Section 15. The Department of Human Services Act is amended by adding Section 10-34.5 as follows:

Sec. 10-34.5. Human trafficking prevention training program. The Department of Human Services shall create a human trafficking prevention training program as required under Section 5 of the Human Trafficking Prevention Training Act.
