| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3065 | ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3065 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following: | ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section | ||||||
| 5 | 34-1 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (105 ILCS 5/34-1) (from Ch. 122, par. 34-1) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 34-1. Application of article; Definitions. This | ||||||
| 8 | Article applies only to cities having a population exceeding | ||||||
| 9 | 500,000. | ||||||
| 10 | "Trustees", when used in this Article, means the the | ||||||
| 11 | Chicago School Reform Board of Trustees created by this | ||||||
| 12 | amendatory Act of 1995 and serving as the governing board of | ||||||
| 13 | the school district organized under this Article beginning | ||||||
| 14 | with its appointment on or after the effective date of this | ||||||
| 15 | amendatory Act of 1995 and continuing until June 30, 1999 or | ||||||
| 16 | the appointment of a new Chicago Board of Education as | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | provided in Section 34-3, whichever is later. | ||||||
| 2 | "Board", or "board of education" when used in this | ||||||
| 3 | Article, means: (i) the Chicago School Reform Board of | ||||||
| 4 | Trustees for the period that begins with the appointment of | ||||||
| 5 | the Trustees and that ends on the later of June 30, 1999 or the | ||||||
| 6 | appointment of a new Chicago Board of Education as provided in | ||||||
| 7 | Section 34-3; and (ii) the new Chicago Board of Education from | ||||||
| 8 | and after June 30, 1999 or from and after its appointment as | ||||||
| 9 | provided in Section 34-3, whichever is later. | ||||||
| 10 | Except during the period that begins with the appointment | ||||||
| 11 | of the Chicago School Reform Board of Trustees on or after the | ||||||
| 12 | effective date of this amendatory Act of 1995 and that ends on | ||||||
| 13 | the later of June 30, 1999 or the appointment of a new Chicago | ||||||
| 14 | Board of Education as provided in Section 34-3: (i) the school | ||||||
| 15 | district organized under this Article may be subject to | ||||||
| 16 | further limitations imposed under Article 34A; and (ii) the | ||||||
| 17 | provisions of Article 34A prevail over the other provisions of | ||||||
| 18 | this Act, including the provisions of this Article, to the | ||||||
| 19 | extent of any conflict. | ||||||
