| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1287 | ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1287 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following: | ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Section 2-213.5 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (210 ILCS 45/2-213.5 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 2-213.5. Automated external defibrillators. | ||||||
| 8 | (a) The administrator of a facility shall ensure the | ||||||
| 9 | facility has an automated external defibrillator and policies | ||||||
| 10 | and procedures for the rendering of automated external | ||||||
| 11 | defibrillation in the facility. | ||||||
| 12 | (b) All persons certified to provide automated external | ||||||
| 13 | defibrillation shall: | ||||||
| 14 | (1) successfully complete a course in cardiopulmonary | ||||||
| 15 | resuscitation and in the use of an automated external | ||||||
| 16 | defibrillator that meets or exceeds the standards | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | established by the American Heart Association or the | ||||||
| 2 | American National Red Cross; and | ||||||
| 3 | (2) have evidence that course completion is current | ||||||
| 4 | and not expired. | ||||||
| 5 | (c) The facility shall provide maintenance and oversight | ||||||
| 6 | of the automated external defibrillator in accordance with the | ||||||
| 7 | Automated External Defibrillator Act and develop policies and | ||||||
| 8 | procedures consistent with current medical practice regarding | ||||||
| 9 | the use of automated external defibrillators. | ||||||
| 10 | (d) A facility must comply with this Section by January 1, | ||||||
| 11 | 2030.". | ||||||
