| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1814 by replacing |
| 3 | | everything after the enacting clause with the following: |
| 4 | | "Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and |
| 5 | | Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is |
| 6 | | amended by adding Section 2310-735 as follows: |
| 7 | | (20 ILCS 2310/2310-735 new) |
| 8 | | Sec. 2310-735. Public educational effort on amniotic fluid |
| 9 | | embolism. |
| 10 | | (a) As used in this Section, "amniotic fluid embolism" |
| 11 | | means a rare obstetric emergency in which amniotic fluid, |
| 12 | | fetal cells, hair, or other debris enters the maternal |
| 13 | | bloodstream leading to cardiovascular collapse, respiratory |
| 14 | | failure, and disseminated intravascular coagulation. |
| 15 | | (b) The Department shall conduct educational activities |
| 16 | | for providers on the signs, symptoms, and management of |

| 1 | | amniotic fluid embolism. |
| 2 | | (c) The Department shall make available information about |
| 3 | | amniotic fluid embolism on the Department's website. |
| 4 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 5 | | becoming law.". |
