| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 32 | ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 32 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following: | ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing | ||||||
| 5 | Section 70-50 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (60 ILCS 1/70-50) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 70-50. Supervisor of general assistance. | ||||||
| 8 | (a) The township supervisor shall be ex officio supervisor | ||||||
| 9 | of general assistance in the township and shall administer the | ||||||
| 10 | general assistance program in the township as provided in | ||||||
| 11 | Articles VI, XI, and XII of the Illinois Public Aid Code. | ||||||
| 12 | (b) The township board shall, on at least an annual basis, | ||||||
| 13 | designate the township trustee who has the longest term of | ||||||
| 14 | continuous service as a township trustee to, in the event of a | ||||||
| 15 | vacancy in the office of township supervisor, serve as the ex | ||||||
| 16 | officio supervisor of general assistance in the township and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | administer the general assistance program as provided in | ||||||
| 2 | Articles VI, XI, and XII of the Illinois Public Aid Code during | ||||||
| 3 | the pendency of the vacancy in the office of the township | ||||||
| 4 | supervisor. The township trustee designated under this | ||||||
| 5 | subsection shall be ex officio supervisor of general | ||||||
| 6 | assistance immediately upon the existence of a vacancy in the | ||||||
| 7 | office of township supervisor and shall exercise the powers | ||||||
| 8 | and duties of that office until the vacancy in the office of | ||||||
| 9 | township supervisor is filled in accordance with Section 60-5 | ||||||
| 10 | of this Code. | ||||||
