Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a willful violation of the Illinois Motor Carrier Safety Law that causes a motor vehicle accident that results in great bodily harm, permanent disability, or disfigurement to another person is a Class 3 felony. Provides that a willful violation of the Illinois Motor Carrier Safety Law that causes a motor vehicle accident that results in the death of another person is a Class 2 felony.
Senate Committee Amendment No. 2 Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Reinserts the provisions of the engrossed bill with changes. Provides that any driver who willfully violates regulations pertaining to motor carrier drivers driving under the influence; motor carrier drivers' hours of service; and motor carrier physical qualifications for drivers, shall be guilty of a Class 3 felony when the violation results in a motor vehicle accident that causes great bodily harm, permanent disability or disfigurement, or death to another person. Provides that any person other than the driver who willfully violates regulations pertaining to motor carrier drivers driving under the influence; motor carrier drivers' hours of service; and motor carrier physical qualifications for drivers, shall be guilty of a Class 2 felony when the violation results in a motor vehicle accident that causes great bodily harm, permanent disability or disfigurement, or death to another person.
