Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Chicago Teacher Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Allows a designated domestic partner to qualify as a surviving spouse for purposes of survivor and death benefits. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Removes language from the definition of "domestic partner" that would include individuals of the opposite gender as an unmarried teacher.

 HB 4731 may have a fiscal impact, but the impact cannot be determined as it is unknown how many domestic partners will be designated and eligible to receive benefits.
