Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act. Provides that upon employment and at least once every 5 years thereafter, school personnel, including substitute teachers, who work directly with students must complete mandated reporter training provided by an individual or agency with expertise in recognizing and reporting child abuse.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the bill as introduced, with the following change: Provides that within one year of initial employment and at least every 5 years thereafter, school personnel required to report child abuse must complete mandated reporter training by a provider or agency with expertise in recognizing and reporting child abuse (rather than upon employment and at least once every 5 years thereafter, school personnel, including substitute teachers, who work directly with students must complete mandated reporter training provided by an individual or agency with expertise in recognizing and reporting child abuse). Effective July 1, 2014.
