Synopsis As Introduced Creates the Personal Protection for Judges, State's Attorneys, and Public Defenders Act. Establishes statewide uniform standards for the issuance of permits to carry concealed firearms in this State. Authorizes the county sheriff to issue concealed firearms permits to Judges, State's Attorneys, Assistant State's Attorneys, Public Defenders, and Assistant Public Defenders. Requires an applicant to complete a training course in handgun use, safety, and marksmanship. Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Exempts, from an unlawful use of weapons and aggravated unlawful use of weapons violation, Judges, State's Attorneys, Assistant State's Attorneys, Public Defenders, and Assistant Public Defenders who carry or possess firearms in accordance with the Personal Protection for Judges, State's Attorneys, and Public Defenders Act. Preempts home rule.
