Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Military Code of Illinois and the Department of Veterans Affairs Act. Provides that no employee of the Department of Military Affairs or the Department of Veterans Affairs may remove sensitive material, including without limitation material containing social security numbers of or other personal information concerning veterans or their families, from Department offices without authorization. Effective immediately.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the substantive provisions of the introduced bill. Defines "sensitive material" to include an individual's first name or initial and last name together with any one or more of listed data elements.
House Floor Amendment No. 2 Provides that any person who knowingly removes sensitive material from the offices of the Department of Military Affairs or the Department of Veterans Affairs commits a Class 4 felony.
