Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Requires a school board to report to the State Board of Education on a monthly basis the annual student dropout rate (now does not need to be reported every month) and the number of students who graduate, transfer, or otherwise leave.

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the School Code. Requires the State Board of Education to establish a system to provide for the accurate tracking of transfer students. Provides that the system shall require that a student be counted as a dropout in the calculation of a school's or school district's annual student dropout rate unless the school or school district to which the student transferred sends notification to the school or school district from which the student transferred documenting that the student has enrolled in the transferee school or school district. Provides that the notification must occur within 90 days after the date the student withdraws from the transferor school or school district or the student shall be counted in the calculation of the transferor school's or school district's annual student dropout rate. Provides that all records indicating the school or school district to which a student transferred are subject to the the Illinois School Student Records Act.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Provides that the notification sent by the transferee school documenting that a student has enrolled in the school or district must occur within 150 (instead of 90) days after the date the student withdraws from the transferor school.
