Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Provides that if a teacher is elected to serve as an officer of a State or national teacher organization that represents teachers in collective bargaining negotiations, then the school board shall grant the teacher a leave of absence of up to 6 years or the period of time the teacher serves as an officer, whichever is longer (now, the leave may only be for up to 6 years). Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement.
