Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. In the Teacher Certification Article, provides that the alternative certificate program shall be limited to new participants not to exceed the number of unfilled positions as reported to the State Board of Education during the prior school year (now, the program is limited to not more than 260 new participants during each year that the program is in effect). In the provision concerning the employment requirement, removes the minimum period of time that the person must have been employed. Effective July 1, 2003.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the School Code. Increases the maximum number of new participants that may be in the Alternative Teacher Certification Program each year from 260 to 500. Effective July 1, 2003.

House Committee Amendment No. 2 (Adopted 2/28/03)
Further amends the Section concerning the Alternative Teacher Certification Program. In the provision concerning the employment requirement, removes the minimum period of time that the person must have been employed.
