Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Fire Protection District Act. Provides that upon a majority vote of the board of trustees in favor of the proposition to annex or consolidate the district, the district shall cease. Provides that on the effective date of the annexation or consolidation, all the rights, powers, duties, assets, property, liabilities, indebtedness, obligations, bonding authority, taxing authority, and responsibilities of the district shall vest in and be assumed by the governmental unit assuming the functions of the former district.

House Floor Amendment No. 2
Deletes reference to:
70 ILCS 705/15b new
Adds reference to:
70 ILCS 705/3from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 23

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Fire Protection District Act. Provides that the voters of a fire protection district may vote to simultaneously dissolve and consolidate the district into an adjoining fire protection district. Requires the board of trustees of the adjoining district to accept by resolution the former fire protection district's territory prior to the effective date of the simultaneous dissolution and consolidation.
