Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Includes catalytic converters in the definition of "essential parts".

House Floor Amendment No. 2
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the term "essential parts" includes catalytic converters, but catalytic converters are not required to bear an identification number.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Deletes reference to:
625 ILCS 5/1-118from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-118
Adds reference to:
625 ILCS 5/4-103from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 4-103

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person may not receive, possess, conceal, sell, dispose, or transfer a catalytic converter the person knows to be stolen. Provides that a violation of this prohibition is a Class 4 felony.
