Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Livestock Management Facilities Act. Provides that solid livestock waste stacking structures shall be sized to store not less than the amount of waste generated during 3 months of facility operation at design capacity (now 6 months).
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Provides that the owner or operator of a livestock waste handling facility constructed with concrete with a design capacity of less than 300 animal units may demonstrate to the Department of Agriculture that a reduced storage volume is appropriate in certain circumstances. Provides that solid livestock waste stacking structures shall be sized to store no less than 6 months (instead of 3 months) of the facility's waste. Provides that the owner or operator of a livestock waste handling facility holding solid livestock waste with a design capacity of less than 300 animal units may demonstrate to the Department that a reduced storage volume is appropriate for that facility in certain circumstances.
