Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning alternative public schools.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
105 ILCS 5/13A-0.5
Adds reference to:
105 ILCS 5/27A-4

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Charter Schools Law of the School Code. Allows the Chicago Board of Education to designate attendance boundaries for no more than one-third of the charter schools permitted in Chicago if the Board determines that attendance boundaries are needed to relieve overcrowding or to better serve low-income and at-risk students. Allows students residing within an attendance boundary to be given priority for enrollment, but prohibits them from being required to attend the charter school.
