Synopsis As Introduced Creates the Electronic Medical Records Taskforce Act. Establishes the Electronic Medical Records Taskforce to create a plan for the development and utilization of electronic medical records (EMR) in the State in order to improve the quality of patient care, increase the efficiency of medical practice, improve safety, and reduce medical errors. Sets forth certain elements that the plan shall include. Effective immediately.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Deletes everything. Creates the Electronic Health Records Taskforce Act. Establishes the Electronic Health Records Taskforce to create a plan for the development and utilization of electronic health records (EHR) in the State in order to improve the quality of patient care, increase the efficiency of health care practice, improve safety, and reduce health care errors. Sets forth certain elements that the plan shall include. Effective immediately.
Senate Floor Amendment No. 1 Provides that the EHR Taskforce shall be convened by the Department of Public Health, in coordination with the Department of Public Aid and the Department of Human Services (rather than just in coordination with the Department of Public Aid). Provides that the Taskforce shall prepare and submit a report on the EHR plan to the General Assembly by December 31, 2006.
