Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Downstate Teachers Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Changes the method of calculating interest when purchasing service credit for certain periods of military service. Effective immediately.

	Pension Note (Pension Laws Commission)
	The fiscal impact of SB 1851 cannot be calculated as the amount of service credit that would be established is unknown, but is estimated to be minor.

	Fiscal Note (Teachers' Retirement System)
	There will be no change in the state contributions to the Teachers' Retirement System as a result of this legislation.
