Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Open Meetings Act. Authorizes an elected or appointed member of a downstate police or downstate firefighter pension fund to satisfy the Act's training requirements by participating in a course of training sponsored or conducted by the Illinois Public Pension Fund Association. Sets forth requirements for the course of training. Effective January 1, 2013.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the introduced bill with changes. Requires the alternative training to be provided by a statewide organization representing police and firefighters (rather than the Illinois Public Pension Fund Association). Provides that the alternative training is available to the elected or appointed members of the board of trustees (rather than the elected or appointed members) of a downstate police or firefighter pension fund.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 3
Provides that the statewide organization that offers the alternative training may represent police, firefighters, or both (rather than police and firefighters).
