Synopsis As Introduced
Creates the Whistleblower Protection Act. Contains a short title only.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:

Adds reference to:
740 ILCS 175/6from Ch. 127, par. 4106

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Whistleblower Reward and Protection Act. Changes references from civil investigative demands to subpoenas. Provides that the Attorney General may (instead of shall) delegate the authority to issue subpoenas, subject to conditions as the Attorney General deems appropriate. Provides guidelines for the contents of a subpoena. Removes language concerning service of notice in foreign countries. Provides for service of notice through any method prescribed in the Code of Civil Procedure or as otherwise set forth in the Act. Removes language concerning the responsibility, disclosure, and return of material, transcripts, and answers. Makes other changes.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Restores the provisions of current law regarding persons present at examinations and persons excluded from examinations. Restores the provisions of current law regarding the location where oral testimony is taken.
