Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Children's Health Insurance Program Act. Creates the Children's Health Insurance Task Force. Sets forth membership in the Task Force. Requires the Task Force to gather information and make recommendations relating to access to quality, affordable health insurance for children in Illinois. Requires the Task Force to conduct public hearings at locations throughout the State at least every other month during the first year after the appointment of a majority of its voting members and as determined by a majority of its voting members in each year thereafter. Requires the Task Force to submit an annual report to the General Assembly. Provides that the Task Force is abolished and the Section is repealed on January 1, 2012. Effective immediately.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Replaces with the bill as introduced with the following changes. Deletes a provision allowing members of the Children's Health Insurance Task Force to be reimbursed for their expenses associated with official duties of the Task Force from appropriations for that purpose. Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to provide for the administrative expenses of the Task Force. Effective immediately.
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Department of Public Aid Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Creates an Advisory Committee on Children's Health Insurance Programs within the Department of Healthcare and Family Services. Includes the following in the duties of the Advisory Committee; (1) to gather information and make recommendations relating to access to quality, affordable health insurance for children in Illinois, (2) to conduct public hearings in locations throughout the State, (3) to serve as an official forum for discussions concerning the implementation and oversight of current health insurance programs, and (4) to file a report with the Director of Healthcare and Family Services, the Governor, and the General Assembly that includes various data relating to the Children's Health Insurance Program and the Covering ALL KIDS Health Insurance Program. Effective immediately.
