Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Department of Veterans Affairs Act. Creates the Women Veterans Task Force consisting of women veterans to examine the needs of women veterans with respect to issues including, but not limited to, compensation, rehabilitation, outreach, health care, and issues facing women veterans in the community, and to offer solutions on how best to meet these needs. Contains provisions concerning the composition of the Task Force; vacancies; duties; reporting requirements; and duration. Effective immediately.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts similar provisions, but with the following changes: Eliminates language providing that the Women Veterans Task Force is created in the Department of Veterans' Affairs and instead provides that the Department shall provide administrative support to the Task Force. Adds the issue of breast and cervical cancer screenings to the list of issues the Task Force shall examine. Requires the Department to submit a report (rather than an annual report) of its findings to specified persons by July 1, 2012 (rather than by July 1, 2012, and by July 1 of each year thereafter). Eliminates a provision concerning the duration of the Task Force. Provides that the new provisions are repealed on July 1, 2012. Effective immediately.
