Synopsis As Introduced
Creates the Intermodal Container Safety Act. Requires marine terminal operators to develop a program to ensure the safety of containers used for the shipment of goods. Establishes requirements for the program. Establishes penalties for noncompliance with the Act. Makes it a Class B misdemeanor to threaten, coerce, or otherwise retaliate against a driver for requesting the reweighing or repacking of a container or for contacting a law enforcement agency with regard to the weight or safety of an intermodal container. Provides that the Secretary of State must adopt rules for implementing the Act.
