Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Election Code. Provides that the State Board of Elections must post on its World Wide Web site a voters' guide containing candidate portraits and statements of candidates for the offices of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, and Treasurer. Sets the requirements for material that may be included in the voters' guide. Provides that the Board may charge fees for the inclusion of material in the guide. Contains other provisions. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Requires sealed bids for license plate numbers 1 through 10,000, first letters A through Z, first letters AA through ZZ, and first letters AAA through ZZZ. Provides that moneys from the bid go into the Voters' Guide Fund. Establishes procedures for the bidding. Amends the State Finance Act. Creates the Voters' Guide Fund as a trust fund outside the State treasury and provides that the State Treasurer is the custodian of the Fund. Provides that moneys in the Fund may be used by the State Board of Elections for costs associated with posting the voters' guide.
