Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Illinois Insurance Code, the Health Maintenance Organization Act, and the Voluntary Health Services Plans Act. Requires coverages under those Acts to include benefits for outpatient prescription contraceptive drugs and devices and outpatient contraceptive services.
Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 to require coverage for contraceptives under that Act. Further amends the Illinois Insurance Code to provide that coverage must be for all outpatient contraceptive services and all outpatient contraceptive drugs and devices.
Senate Floor Amendment No. 2 Further amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that the provisions concerning coverage for contraceptives shall not be construed to require an insurance company to cover services related to an abortion or to permanent sterilization that requires a surgical procedure.
