Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that the offense of unlawful use of weapons relating to the possession of any device or attachment of any kind designed, used, or intended for use in silencing the report of a firearm and the offense of aggravated discharge of a machine gun or a firearm equipped with a device designed or used for silencing the report of a firearm do not apply to a peace officer while serving as a member of a tactical response team or special operations team. Provides that a peace officer may not personally own or apply for ownership of a device or attachment of any kind designed, used, or intended for use in silencing the report of any firearm. Provides that these devices shall be owned and maintained by lawfully recognized units of government whose duties include the investigation of criminal acts.
