Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Regulatory Sunset Act to change the repeal date of the Acupuncture Practice Act from January 1, 2008 to January 1, 2018. Effective immediately.

Amends the Acupuncture Practice Act. Changes references from "Department of Professional Regulation" to "Department of Financial and Professional Regulation" and from "Director of Professional Regulation" to "Secretary of Financial and Professional Regulation" throughout the Act. Makes changes to the definition of "acupuncture". Provides that a civil penalty of up to $10,000 (rather than $5,000) shall be imposed upon an individual for each offense of unlicensed practice and that the Department may impose fines not to exceed $10,000 (rather than $5,000) for each violation of the Act. Makes changes to provisions concerning guest instructors of acupuncture and professional education; the Board of Acupuncture; the display of a license; continuing education; grounds for disciplinary action; investigations, notices, and hearings; findings of facts, conclusions of law, and recommendations; hearing officers; and the surrender of registration.
