Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Humane Care for Animals Act. Provides that no person may raise a calf for the production of veal unless: (1) the calf is raised in an enclosure without any impairment such as chaining or tethering and of sufficient size to permit the calf to be free to turn around without difficulty, lie with its legs outstretched, and groom itself; (2) the calf is fed a daily diet containing sufficient iron to prevent anemia and to maintain good health and vigor; and (3) if the calf if more than 14 days old, it is provided each day with food containing sufficient digestible fiber to prevent the impairment of the development of its rumen. Effective 14 days after becoming law.
