SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jimmie R. Whitten of Moline, who passed
4away on December 13, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jimmie Whitten was born in Indianapolis, Indiana
6to Jimmie and Jane Talbot Whitten on July 23, 1942; he served
7in the United States Army and married Linda Newingham; he later
8married Betty Baraks in Nashua, Iowa in June of 1988; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jimmie Whitten was a member of the Homewood
10Evangelical Free Church in Moline, Vietnam Veterans of America
11Post 299 MAVA, and Hero Street Chapter 4; he was a 32nd degree
12mason at the Trio Lodge No. 47 AF & AM in Milan; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jimmie Whitten enjoyed volunteering at the
14Veterans Administration Clinic in Bettendorf, Iowa and at
15Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus in Silvis; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jimmie Whitten was preceded in death by his
17parents; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jimmie Whitten is survived by his wife, Betty; his
19children, Jeanine (Walter) McIntosh, John (Rebecca) Whitten,
20Curt (Rose) Whitten, and Sherry (Lyle) Leftwich; his

1grandchildren, Lindsey, Lilly, and Levi McIntosh, Talia
2Spiker, Toria Leftwich, Maradyth Richey, Kayce Bison, Julie
3Whitten, Curtis Whitten, and Stephanie Smith; and several
4great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Jimmie R. Whitten, and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Jimmie Whitten as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
