SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Norman E. Slead of Moline, who passed
4away on December 7, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norman Slead was born in Washington, Iowa to
6Richard and Dorothy (Holdefer) Slead on August 12, 1948; he
7served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; he
8married Cheryl J. Cutler-Nicke in Elko, Nevada on January 16,
91983; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Norman Slead retired from John Deere Davenport
11Works in 2006, after 33 years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In his early years, Norman Slead enjoyed playing
13baseball, softball, and wrestling; later, he played
14racquetball and golf; he enjoyed traveling, gardening, and art
15work; he enjoyed spending time with his family, and his beloved
16dog, Sugar Bear; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Norman Slead is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his
18children, Rachael (Mark) Kwasny, Joshua Slead, Zach Nicke, and
19Michelle Benson; his grandchildren, Audrey, Natalie, Alex,
20Kameron, Lauren, and Abbie; his sisters, Pat (Pete) Strupp, and
21Monica (Larry) York; and his brothers, Tom (Pam) Slead, and

1Mike Slead; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Norman E. Slead, and extend our sincere condolences to his
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Norman Slead as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
