SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thomas E. O'Brien, Jr. of East Moline,
4who passed away on October 28, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. was born on April 26, 1940 in
6Sharon, Pennsylvania; his parents were Thomas E., Sr. and
7Coramae O'Brien; he married Katherine "Kay" Doty on June 8,
81963 at St. John's Catholic Church in Andrew, Iowa; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. attended Loras College in
10Dubuque, Iowa, where he met his future wife; after graduating
11from Loras College in June of 1962, he served in active duty
12with the United States Marine Corps Reserve at Parris Island
13and Camp Lejeune; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. was employed at the IBM
15Corporation for 30 years; he retired in 1993 after holding
16various sales positions and sales management positions at the
17company; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Thomas O'Brien, Jr.
19served as a volunteer for several years with the local Chapter
20of the Service Corps of Retired Executives; he developed a
21passion for golfing; he also enjoyed spending time with his

1family; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. was preceded in death by his
3parents and his brothers, Mont and Daniel; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. is survived by his wife of 53
5years, Kay; his sons, Timothy (Diana) O'Brien, Patrick (Celest)
6O'Brien, and Matthew (Susan) O'Brien; his grandchildren,
7Tyler, Kate, Joey, Alex, Molly, Nicholas, Lauren, John, and
8Katelyn; and his brother, Hugh (Laura) O'Brien; therefore, be
9it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Thomas E. O'Brien,
13Jr.; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Thomas O'Brien, Jr. as an expression
16of our sympathy.
