SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Alice A. Martin of Alton, who passed away
4on October 11, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alice Martin was born in Oxford, Mississippi to
6Anderson and Mable (Kimmons) Harris on January 31, 1941; she
7married Douglas C. Martin Sr. on February 7, 1964; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Alice Martin was employed with the Alton Mental
9Health Center for 25 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Alice Martin was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul
11Catholic Church; she served as 4th Ward Alderman for the City
12of Alton for 10 years; she was a member of the National Counsel
13of Negro Women and the Coalition for Concerned Citizens; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Alice Martin was preceded in death by her parents;
15her son, Douglas Martin Jr.; her daughter, Carla Martin; her
16sister, Frankie Alexander; and her brother, Joseph Brown; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Alice Martin is survived by her husband, Douglas;
18her son, Jon F. Martin; her grandson, Jon F. Martin Jr.; her
19extended family members, Jonathan and Janet Ngwa, and their two
20children, Ketoura and Kwame; and a host of nieces, nephews,

1cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Alice A. Martin, and extend our sincere condolences to her
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Alice Martin as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
