SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mother Charlotte Elizabeth Eades, who
4passed away on September 15, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades was born on April 24, 1925;
6her parents were Bishop David Archie Reed and National
7Evangelist Carrie Lee Reed; she married Archie Lee Eades on
8January 16, 1949; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades began her career as an
10educator at Williams Grant High School in Covington, Kentucky
11and continued through Chicago Teachers College and Cortez
12Business College; she later served as Principal of the
13Tabernacle Christian Academy and as Dean of the Charles H.
14Mason/William Roberts Bible Institute of First Jurisdiction
15Illinois; and
 
16    WHEREAS, As a member of Reed's Temple Church, Mother
17Charlotte Eades served on the Program Committee, Trustee Board,
18and Youth Motivation; she was the first Minister of Music of
19Reed's Temple Church, where she played the piano and organ; she
20also conducted revivals, taught Sunday school, worked with the
21Jail Ministry, and chauffeured elderly mothers at the church;
22and

1    WHEREAS, Prior to her appointment as State Supervisor,
2Mother Charlotte Eades served as District Missionary to
3Superintendents Joe B. Reed, Samuel Russell, Ocie Booker, as
4well as Napoleon Harris, Sr., Assistant Chairman of the
5District Missionary Unit; she also served as Second Assistant
6State Supervisor to the late Mother Rosie Hines and First
7Assistant State Supervisor to the late Mother Carrie Cantrell;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, In November of 1997, Mother Charlotte Eades was
10appointed Jurisdictional Supervisor of First Jurisdiction
11Illinois by Mother Willie Mae Rivers, General Supervisor of the
12Women's Department of the Church of God in Christ
13International; as Jurisdictional Supervisor, she provided
14leadership and training for women representing over 100
15churches and several new innovations were organized under her
16tenure; she organized the Women's Institute Hour, a monthly
17training session for women of all ages; she was also the
18organizer and founder of the "New Generation", designed for the
19purpose of training young women from the ages of 20 to 45, the
20Annual Women's Workshop, and the Annual Women's Retreat, a
21weekend of spiritual and social elevation; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades was appointed as a member
23of the Advisory Board of the National Women's Department and

1Regional Supervisor of the Heartland Area, comprising the
2states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, South
3Dakota, Minnesota, and Canada; she was also a National Adjutant
4Sister and served Presiding Bishop Louis Henry Ford, Bishop
5Shepard Little, and Bishop Ocie Booker; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades was preceded in death by
7her husband, Archie Lee; her son, Archie Lee, Jr.; her parents;
8and her siblings, Marion Rosemon, Bishop David Reed, Jr., James
9Lee, Milton, Joe B. Reed, and Mary Lillian Frances; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades is survived by her
11daughter, Marion D. Pearson; her daughter-in-law, Melissa; her
12grandchildren, Kristen, Gregory, Jr., Nikita, and Talaya; many
13nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends; the Reed's
14Temple family; and the First Jurisdiction Illinois family;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
18family and friends, mourn the passing of Mother Charlotte
19Elizabeth Eades; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Mother Charlotte Eades as an
22expression of our sympathy.
